PLIGHT OF ANDHERIEAST

Andheri East is one of the largest Industrial suburbs not only in India but in the Asian region. It is touted to be the next Nariman point with all big names moving in. It houses SEEPZ, MIDC a host of large Corporates and thousands of Medium and smelt scale industries. Government end the Corporation collects Crams of Rupees by way of taxes from these Industrial units. There are many software houses and Exporters and the place is frequented by many foreign buyers.

But the lnfra-structural facilities, especially the roads are in a pathetic situation and the whole suburb is chok-a bloc with high density of traffic and very poor traffic management. All the approach roads are narrow congested and badly maintained.

The public utilities eg: MTNL I BSES I TATA Electric I Municipal Corporation vie with each other in digging roads and never bother to relay them property. For example the arterial road in MIDC was widened and asphalted an year back and just when the motorists heaved a sigh of relief the digging started and within one year the whole place is in shambles.

The local Corporators are only busy in putting boards of their deeds - or shall we say misdeeds without doing anything tangible.

With the high rate of industrial activity this can become a model suburb if only someone like Chandrasekar or Khaimar can take active interest.
